The Five Best Images of Earth From Space

Since 1972, images of Earth captured by NASA's Landsat satellites have become a reference for the scientific study of the planet and a unique resource for detailed observation of the earth's surface.

Their images are the source that feeds the series 'Earth as Art'.

Surface of Lake Eyre. Australia's northern desert.

Crests of wind gusts of sand. Iguidi Erg is one of several ergs (sand desert region) forming the Sahara.

The Mississippi River colored, the longest river system in North America.

Yukon Delta in the southwest of Alaska. This is one of the largest deltas in the world and is part of the National Wildlife Reserve in Yukon.

A large concentration of green phytoplankton swirl around the dark waters of Gotland, a Swedish island in the Baltic Sea.

Thor’s Well, Cape Perpetua, Oregon

Thor’s Well is part of Cape Perpetua, a typical Pacific Northwest headland, a forested area of land on the central Oregon Coast, surrounded by water on three sides.

Many people, even the locals of Oregon do not realize the existence of an amazing nature place.

Thor’s Well is also often simply called the Spouting Horn. It is essentially a huge salt water fountain operated by the Pacific Ocean's power.

This natural spectacle is at its best when it’s the most dangerous to watch – at high tide or during winter storms.
